Directions

From Glasgow, take the A82 to Crianlarich then Tyndrum, (the road on the shores of Loch Lomond is quite small, so there can be delays here). Then the A85 to Oban. (Oban to Glasgow 92 miles, allow 2-3 hours).

From Edinburgh or Perth. Aim for Stirling and take the A84 to Lochearnhead, then A85 via Crianlarich and Tyndrum to Oban.

From the North, Fort William take the A82 to the bridge across Loch Leven, then A828 to Oban. This is a very nice route along the western seaboard.

We think that choosing to stay in the Ross of Mull is a wise decision.

From the weather point it is statistically the driest end of the island being within sight of the Isle of Tiree which often records the most sunshine in the British Isles.

You are 1.5 hours drive from Tobermory (the capital of Mull) or Balamory to the kids. Any trip to that end of the island should be accompanied by possibly taking the scenic route by Gribun and perhaps a meal at one of Tobermory's many restaurants followed by a night at the theatre in Dervaig before your return to Keills.

We have information at Keills about the many activities on Mull from local events, dances, ceilidhs, concerts, auctions, rugby matches to beaches, angling, golfing, walking, cycling, wildlife etc.

Beachcombing in itself can be a lot of fun and you are usually surrounded by an array of wildlife from seals and otters to the numerous species of bird life.

There are also some boat trips to be had, taking you to islands like Staffa and Lunga and of course a trip to beautiful Iona is a must. There are superb white beaches and of course the Abbey and some interesting shops, bike hire and golf.

Dining out locally offers a choice of about 7 restaurants.

Bunessan offers 2 licensed grocery shops. Their respective telephone numbers are Bunessan PO on 01681 700395 or Bayview stores on 01681 700233.

Every effort has been made at Keills to provide as much information as possible on what the island has to offer, which we continually strive to keep updated
